We have two
child advocates. More information will be made available
here shortly. Please email me if you would like to know
more: lia@upwithwomen.com.
Here is a picture of
our child advocate, 9 year old Briar Rose Perrier, being
recognized November 26, 2008 for her significant contribution
to the community.
As her first Up With
Women community project, she decided to make and sell
bracelets to raise money for Nekenaan, the temporary
Aboriginal Women's Housing project that she and her
mother lived in during the first 9 months of Briar's
life. She has raised $1,500 so far.
Here, Briar is being
recognized by the Ministers of Housing, Aboriginal Affairs,
and Infrastructure:
Please
have a listen to a little interview we did with Briar
when she was 8 years old. She gives her wishes for children
and families here:
